Paranormal Activity

Soforah

This is by far my favourite horror series ever created. I remember how terrified I was after watching the first movie, I could barely sleep at night. Meanwhile, years have passed, and I’m still as terrified as the first time.

One thing I’ve learned is that no matter what weird stuff you may think is happening, NEVER set up a camera to capture these events. Especially not in your bedroom while you are sleeping. This is one subject that I find utterly disturbing. Add some haunted-, possession-like elements and you got my skin crawling.

Extra kudos for the beautiful houses in all the movies and the Christmas theme in the Ghost Dimension.

Sardoken

Paranormal Activity is my favourite serie of horror movies.

We recently re-watched them all, one movie each Saturday evening. While I remembered that we always had a good time watching them, I forgot how powerful they were.

Horror is very subjective to people, what frightens a person, may not scare another… On my wife and me, found footages are very effective. I think that they are only second to exorcism and posession movies. So, when those two themes are mixed together, in a nice californian setting, all the ingredients are there to make our perfect fright cocktail.

The Sinner: Season 1

This is a TV-show that I watched in several moments. The first time, I watched 2 episodes and gave up, thinking it would be a horrific drama.

Months later, my husband and I wanted to give it another try, and now we’re happy we did. This TV-show is the perfect example of why I should never give up after one episode.

The Sinner is an amazing psychological thriller with a plot twist that I never saw coming. The inconsistencies in the story can be forgiven for an otherwise perfect roller coaster of suspense and mystery.

Also, Bill Pullman is so intense, he created an exceptional ambience throughout the entire season. An amazing performance. I hope season 2 will be as great as the first one!

I wish there was 10 more seasons of…

The first answer that came to my mind was Riverdale. But that was based on a craving, there must be other TV shows that deserve it better…

As excellent as Star Trek Voyager or Stargate SG-1 are, they are already well wrapped.

So, my final answer is Twin Peaks. Not the Twin Peaks of the second or the third season (don’t get me started about the third)… I mean ten more seasons as good as the first.

How cool would have it been if Dale Cooper would have had 9 more murders to investigate (1 per season), with the red room mystery in the background?

My crochet projects

Five years ago, I started to crochet a blanket. Due to the lack of time and many other reasons, I’ve never finished it.

A few weeks ago, I decided to pick my little project back up, and realized how much I’ve missed it. I’m at 67 of 90 patches now. Getting closer to the end.

Once my blanket will be done, I’ll make another. Meanwhile, I’ll also be discovering how to crochet amigurumi, but more about that later.

Avengers Movies are Overrated

I’m afraid to see him resurrected in another timeline.

I could have enjoyed the Avengers for what it is: a popcorn movie.

Unfortunately, it felt as if it was constantly trying to be more than that, culminating with the last hour of end game. As much as I enjoyed watching Robert Downey Jr. die, that scene and everything that followed felt way too long.

I’m not the kind of person who only watches dramas, but I’m tired to see fast food movies posing as instant classics.

It’s finally raining

I’m writing this post while listening to the refreshing sound of the rain falling on the terrace.

HBO’s Chernobyl was amazing. Beside the scientific reasons, the catastrophe could have been avoided, if not for the pride of the soviet regime during which mistakes had to be hidden instead of addressed.

Netflix’s When they see us was the second great TV show we’ve been watching during the heatwave. It brings back to debate about the death penalty and how, to me, it’s always better to let a guilty man alive than to kill an innocent.

The other faces of Kiefer

Lately, during my last home-working lunchtimes, I’ve been watching Designated Survivor.

After hours watching Kiefer Sutherland trying to be Mr. President, it got me thinking that all his roles weren’t always that bad.

On top of my head, I remember him as a vampire in The Lost Boys, which I can’t even mention without hearing this song in my head and, my favourite, Sam Stanley from Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me.

As for Designated Survivor, wouldn’t it be for the terrorism plots, I don’t think that I would have made it to the end of the first season.

Climatize me

Brussels, 37°c

Today is one of these rare days when I’m happy to be at the office. While Brussels is burning under a scorching sun, I keep cool thanks to the AC of the finance tower.

I wanted to take a picture of the view from my usual lunchtime spot at Starbucks, but it was so crowded that we had to sit somewhere else. Cold spots are very popular on days like these… Instead, enjoy the view from my office.

Radioactive Noodles

On Tuesday evening, Soforah and I normally have a few drinks and listen to music before eating pastas. For reasons that are mostly histamine related, we decided to quit drinking a week ago. So, instead of getting drunk, we ate homemade noodles while watching Mamytwink’s trip to Chernobyl, then we watched the first episode of the HBO TV show Chernobyl. It was a very nice evening. Big thanks to my wife for coming up with such a great plan, preparing the food and helping us keeping sober.

Tracking Quests Completion

Yesterday, while we were doing our dailies in Kul Tiras, Soforah couldn’t remember if she had already completed a quest that pops up when you kill some specific mobs. If you ever ask yourself the same question, there is a command line to check if a specfic quest has already been completed.

/script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(50897))

You only need to replace “50897” by the number of the quest, which can be found on Wowhead. Simply search for the quest, then copy the number from the url:

If it returns false, you never completed it, while true means you already did.
